ABC10 Shooting Investigation

We are getting more information about the man accused of opening fire at ABC10 in Sacramento. Anibal Hernandez Santana, 64, is facing local and federal charges. At least three bullets struck the window of the local TV station's lobby Friday afternoon. Sacramento Police said that the lobby was occupied, but nobody was injured. A motive is still under investigation, but investigators believe it appears to be political. The shooting came one day after protesters gathered outside the station to criticize ABC network for its decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show over comments the comedian made about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier this month. ABC10 is not owned by Disney - the parent company of ABC News. CapRadio Reporter Chris Felts was at both arraignments at the Sacramento County and federal courthouses and joins us with more.

CA Law Enforcement Mask Ban

Over the weekend, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the No Secret Police Act, a law that bans most law enforcement from wearing masks while on duty except under certain circumstances. The ban is the first of its type in the country and comes in response to increased immigration enforcement in California, particularly in Los Angeles. But it remains unclear the powers of state lawmakers to regulate federal law enforcement, and the law could face challenges in court. CapRadio Statehouse Politics Reporter Gerardo Zavala talks about the responses from the law’s supporters, opponents and law enforcement, and what the path forward could look like before it goes into effect next year.
